Our core values—integrity, collaboration, accountability, respect, and excellence—guide our efforts in achieving the best outcomes for our patients and communities.
About the Role
We are seeking a qualified Anaesthetist to join our Anaesthesia Department at Timaru Hospital. This position offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic team of ten professionals who support four theatres, an Obstetric Unit averaging 590 births annually, and a combined Intensive Care Unit/Coronary Care Unit.
The role entails providing efficient, safe, and appropriate anaesthetic services, along with intensive care and pain management treatments. You will also participate in day patient and outpatient clinic sessions. The position can be tailored to part-time or full-time arrangements, with working hours typically between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday. Additionally, you will be part of a rostered On Call system, providing after-hours coverage with a frequency of 1:12, which includes weekends and public holidays.
On Call Duties
As the first on-call provider during your duty, you will be responsible for ensuring that our patients receive timely and effective care outside normal business hours. There may also be opportunities to engage in private practice with the local Bidwill Trust Private Hospital, where many of our team members maintain professional associations.
Requirements
To qualify for this position, candidates must hold appropriate medical qualifications and registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. For overseas applicants, primary source verification of your qualifications via the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates' Electronic Portfolio of International Credentials (EPIC) service is mandatory.
