About the Role
We are seeking a Service Deli Assistant Manager, also known as Deli 2IC, to join our dynamic team in 2026. This role requires a leader who exemplifies a strong work ethic and professional conduct. The ideal candidate will possess excellent time management and communication skills and enjoy planning, organizing, and managing the daily operations of our Deli Department alongside our Deli Manager.
In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring our customers have access to a premium range of products. You will work collaboratively with your team and be willing to roll up your sleeves to ensure tasks are completed efficiently. Responsibilities include making daily decisions regarding the preparation of Deli products, assigning tasks to team members, and ensuring that production standards are met consistently. You will also be responsible for upskilling and training both new and existing staff, managing stock, and leading by example.
This is a full-time position, and specific hours will be discussed during the interview process. New World Gardens operates seven days a week, so shift patterns will include one weekend day.
Requirements
Our ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Proven leadership, organizational, and planning skills
- Effective communication abilities at all levels
- Previous supervisory or management experience in a supermarket or similar setting
- Proficient computer skills, particularly in Excel and rostering
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Experience with Health & Safety and Food Safety compliance
- Strong attention to detail
