The Auckland Region Women’s Corrections Facility, located in Manukau, South Auckland, is the only women’s prison in Auckland. We take pride in managing the health and safety of the women in our care, providing a supportive environment tailored to their unique needs. Our facility accommodates women on remand and those serving sentences, with a special focus on a purpose-built mothers with babies unit. About the Role
We are currently seeking new Correction Officer intakes for June, July, and September. In the role of Corrections Officer, you will work in a dynamic and occasionally challenging environment, supported by a team of experienced colleagues. Your training will equip you with essential skills to maintain safety within a custodial setting.
You will engage positively with individuals, influencing change in their lives and encouraging them to make better choices. Utilizing your effective communication and relationship-building skills, you will empower the women we manage to follow their unique pathways toward living offense-free lives.
As a Corrections Officer, you will be tasked with:
- Supervising daily routines
- Assisting individuals in engaging with rehabilitation programs and attending appointments
- Motivating and inspiring positive changes
- Monitoring health, safety, and behaviors
- Collaborating closely with families and key stakeholders
- Working on a rostered basis, including 10- or 12-hour shifts across a 24/7 pattern, encompassing weekends and public holidays
Requirements

- Flexibility to work rostered shifts across a 24/7 schedule
- Experience in a Kaupapa Maori or Pasifika environment is desirable, though not essential
In addition to these qualities, you will need to meet the following requirements:
- A full New Zealand driver’s license
- Legal right to work in New Zealand; priority will be given to candidates who already hold this right, as we may not be able to support visa applications for this role
Pre-employment checks will include a drug test, full disclosure of criminal convictions (the Clean Slate Act does not apply), a medical assessment, a physical fitness assessment, and reference checks.

The starting salary for this position is $67,519 per annum, with opportunities for salary increases as you achieve national qualifications (Level 3 at $72,197 and Level 4 at $77,713). We offer a range of benefits, including:
