Extrastaff is a leading Labour Hire Company dedicated to providing staffing solutions for infrastructure and commercial projects across New Zealand. We are currently seeking experienced Steel Fixers to join our team for immediate and ongoing deployment.
About the Role
We are looking for skilled Steel Fixers for full-time, permanent positions available nationwide. This role offers a minimum of 30 guaranteed hours per week, with pay ranging from $26.00 to $40.00 per hour. Your work will involve significant infrastructure and commercial projects, with site locations determined by project demands. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in structural reinforcement who are open to relocating or traveling as necessary.
Key Responsibilities
In this position, you will:
- Interpret engineering plans and drawings to cut, bend, and place steel bars and mesh.
- Tie rebar using proper techniques for various reinforcement systems.
- Place and secure steel within formwork prior to concrete pouring.
- Adhere to health, safety, and quality standards on-site.
- Collaborate efficiently within large construction teams under strict deadlines.
Skills and Experience Required
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- A minimum of 3 years of steel fixing or reinforcing steel experience, whether in New Zealand or overseas.
- The ability to read and work from technical drawings.
- Strong physical fitness and a keen attention to detail.
- Experience in commercial, civil, or infrastructure projects is preferred.
- Relevant trade experience or qualifications would be advantageous.
Nationwide Opportunity and Travel
While this role is listed for Gisborne, we are actively recruiting for positions across all regions of New Zealand based on project requirements. The regions include:
North Island: Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Manawatu-Whanganui, Wellington.
South Island: Tasman, Nelson, Marlborough, West Coast, Canterbury, Otago, Southland.
