About the Role We are currently seeking a Chemical Pathologist specializing in Biochemistry to join our team at Health New Zealand, Te Tai Tokerau. In this permanent part-time position (0.2 FTE), you will have comprehensive oversight of Biochemistry services in Northland. As a Chemical Pathologist, you will be part of a small, close-knit team focused on patient care. Your extensive experience in the Biochemistry testing environment will allow you to take ownership of various tasks within our service. Key responsibilities will include reporting, procedural work, quality assurance, and the development of clinical pathways. Collegial visits to laboratories in Whangarei and the surrounding districts will also be essential to your role, as this is a requirement set by IANZ. A solid understanding of pathology, public health interactions, and the regional systems in New Zealand, as well as the interplay between public and private laboratory services, will be beneficial. About the Location Northland, known for its warm climate, offers a "winterless north" experience with excellent schools, affordable housing, and beautiful coastal areas that provide a variety of recreational activities. About You To be eligible for this position, you must have, or be eligible for, specialist or locum tenens registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) in a Pathology Vocational scope of practice. Ideally, you will have completed a Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (FRCPA) or an equivalent qualification. If you are currently overseas or not yet registered, we are here to assist you with the application process for obtaining MCNZ registration.
