About the Role
We are currently seeking a passionate individual with strong plant and gardening knowledge to join our team. This full-time position (32 hours per week, including one weekend day) involves working closely with customers to help them find the right solutions for their gardening projects. You will report to the Garden Manager and play a key role in maintaining our product displays and ensuring a positive shopping experience for our customers.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Strong background in plant and gardening knowledge, ideally with experience in retail or trade sales.
- Proven gardening experience, along with a willingness to learn and grow in the role.
- Basic understanding of related products such as fertilizers and pest control.
- Confidence and ability to assist customers in understanding their project needs.
- Physical strength and fitness to manage tasks such as merchandising products and lifting bags of plant mediums.
- An engaging personality focused on providing comprehensive solutions for customers.
- A proactive attitude towards personal and team development.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions typical of a garden center.
In your daily responsibilities, you will:
- Perform routine plant maintenance, watering, and quality control.
- Engage in light stepladder work for merchandising stock.
- Assist customers in-store and manage general shop duties to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Occasionally operate the till to cover breaks and meet customer demand.
- Adapt to the seasonal demands of the garden center, especially during busy spring and summer months.
- Contribute positively to our dynamic team culture while being punctual and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
