About the Role As a Programme Facilitator, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals within our two Wellington Prisons and six Community Corrections sites. Your primary responsibility will be to help them understand and address the underlying causes of their offending while assisting them in developing crime-free futures. You will deliver a variety of clinically designed therapeutic programmes, either individually or with a co-facilitator in a group setting. Working under the principles of manaaki, kaitiaki, wairua, rangatira, and whanau, you will provide essential support through these therapeutic rehabilitation programmes. Please note that this specific role will not be based in the Special Treatment Units, despite its mention in the job description. We will be conducting an Assessment Centre for this role during the week of 25th August 2025 at the Regional Administration Building on Freyburg Road extension, Trentham Upper Hutt. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend in person. The start date for this position is 13th October 2025. About You We are looking for individuals who possess strong listening skills and a genuine desire to support those in our care. You should be comfortable guiding people on their journey while consistently reflecting on your own practices. In addition to aligning with our values, successful candidates will demonstrate the following: - Excellent communication skills and a natural ability to engage and build relationships. - Cultural understanding, particularly in working within a tikanga Māori framework. - Resilience and flexibility, as each day will present different challenges. - Self-awareness and a commitment to maintaining a healthy work/life balance. - An understanding of de-escalation and conflict resolution. - A current driver's license. While not essential, it would be beneficial to have knowledge of individual and group behavior, as well as relevant tertiary qualifications in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field, along with experience in similar areas. You must have a Full New Zealand Driver's License and the legal right to work in New Zealand without restrictions for a minimum of 12 months. Skills and Experience What qualities will set a strong Programme Facilitator apart? Here are some characteristics that will enhance your candidacy: - Strong listening and communication abilities that foster positive relationships with participants and stakeholders. - A willingness to learn about Māori culture, protocols, and peoples, applying kaupapa Māori practices in your work. - Ideally, experience in delivering therapeutic interventions, either individually or in group settings (though group experience is not essential). - Comfort with having your practice reviewed and a receptiveness to constructive feedback, demonstrating maturity and a desire for growth. - Experience in report writing. Salary The starting salary for this role is $69,120, with opportunities for progression. Your appointment and remuneration will reflect the skills and experience relevant to the position.
