We are currently seeking an experienced Excavator Operator to join our team. This position offers a pathway to full-time employment for the right candidate. About the Role In this role, you will operate excavators and other heavy machinery to carry out excavation, grading, and trenching operations across various construction projects. You will utilize GPS technology to ensure accuracy and precision in your work, which includes site preparation and earthmoving. Key responsibilities will include reading and interpreting blueprints, project plans, and site layouts to determine excavation requirements. You will ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies. Daily maintenance checks on equipment will also be part of your duties, and you will need to report any mechanical issues to your supervisor. Collaboration with other crew members, site supervisors, and project managers will be essential to ensure smooth project progress and timely completion. Maintaining accurate logs of work performed and hours worked is also required. Requirements The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of experience as an Excavator Operator, with proven expertise operating excavators equipped with GPS technology, such as Trimble, Leica, or Topcon. A strong understanding of excavation techniques and equipment is necessary, along with the ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications. A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as part of a team, possess excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, and have a strong commitment to safety and quality work. Preferred qualifications include reliability, punctuality, and a willingness to learn. Candidates should be able to follow instructions and must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random tests. Reliable transportation to and from work is also necessary. All applicants must hold a valid New Zealand work visa or be New Zealand residents. Benefits We offer competitive pay rates starting at $36.00 per hour, along with other entitlements.
