About the Company
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to creating a health system that serves all New Zealanders, grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. We believe in providing excellent healthcare and are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce that reflects the communities we serve.
About the Role
We are excited to announce an opportunity for a qualified Health Care Assistant to join our Cambridge START team, part of the broader START service. This role involves working 24 hours per week on a fixed-term contract for six months, with rostered shifts scheduled from Monday to Sunday between 7:00 AM and 8:30 PM.
About the Service
The START (Supported Transfer and Accelerated Rehabilitation Team) program focuses on older persons and rehabilitation, promoting patient recovery within their home environment. Our goal is to alleviate the strain on hospital resources by preventing unnecessary admissions, facilitating early discharges, and enhancing overall patient care quality. The service extends to rural areas surrounding Cambridge, including Te Awamutu, Paeroa, Morrinsville, Matamata, Tokoroa, and Te Aroha; therefore, a valid driver's license is required, and we provide a fleet vehicle for work purposes.

- Experience in a community setting, preferably working with older adults.
- Ability to assist with daily living activities within the patient's home.
- Skills in coaching rehabilitation activities.
- Experience working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to achieve patient goals.
- Capacity to provide care as delegated by a registered nurse or allied health professional.
- Commitment to ongoing education and personal development.
- Strong teamwork capabilities and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- A clean, full New Zealand driver license.
- Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
