Description
About the Company
We are a thriving, family-owned business with a long-standing history in fabric and upholstery, operating since 1988. Our company services a variety of sectors, including marine, transport, agriculture, and aviation, and has expanded to three busy workshops located in Nelson, Blenheim, and Havelock. We are currently seeking a skilled Marine Upholsterer to help grow our Havelock operation. We value teamwork and are looking for someone who takes pride in their craft and thrives in a close-knit environment.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to enhance your career while enjoying a lifestyle upgrade in one of New Zealand’s most beautiful coastal communities. Imagine starting your day surrounded by tranquil waters and birdsong, working on high-end marine upholstery projects while boats gently sway in the Havelock Marina.
As a Marine Upholsterer, you will spend approximately 75% of your time on marine-focused projects, including luxury boat seats, biminis, clears, carpets, and bespoke covers. The remaining time will involve a variety of general upholstery tasks, such as vehicle interiors, shade solutions, and tarpaulins. You will primarily work from our Havelock workshop, with the option to be based in Blenheim, just a scenic 20-minute drive away.
Requirements
We are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications:
- A strong eye for detail and a commitment to quality craftsmanship
- Confidence in managing projects independently from start to finish
- Experience with marine or automotive upholstery is preferred
- A passion for boats and the outdoors, with a dedication to creating durable products
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented attitude
Benefits
We offer a competitive hourly pay rate of $35–$38, depending on experience, along with a range of perks including:
- A company vehicle, phone, and tablet
- Relocation assistance to help you make the move
- A flexible work environment that promotes a family-friendly culture
- The opportunity to bring your dog to work
- A supportive, tight-knit team that holds regular catch-ups and encourages skill development and career growth
If you are ready to pursue a role that allows you to achieve a better work-life balance while taking ownership of your craft, we encourage you to apply.
