About the Role We are seeking a dedicated Retail Warehouse Assistant to join our dynamic Retail Warehouse Operations team at Shop on Carroll in Dunedin. This is a permanent, part-time position requiring 32.5 hours per week, typically spread over 6.5 hours per day from Monday to Friday, between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. The specific hours can be negotiated. You may also be required to assist in the shop and cover occasional shifts on Saturdays or Sundays due to annual leave or illness. In this role, you will be responsible for: - Respectfully receiving, sorting, researching, preparing, and pricing clothing and products for sale. - Collaborating with our front-of-shop and online staff and volunteers to ensure an exceptional shopping experience for our customers and donors. - Ensuring that stock management and distribution systems operate efficiently and safely. - Guiding and directing volunteers to meet daily warehouse objectives. - Taking proactive measures to lead community initiatives focused on sustainability. - Fostering a positive culture of teamwork, demonstrating a willingness to work hard and take the initiative. The starting date for this role is in late June 2025, depending on the right candidate. If you progress to the interview stage, part of the process will involve sorting a bag of donations and identifying, researching, and pricing items of value. Requirements The ideal candidate will possess: - Physical fitness, as the role involves standing for extended periods, as well as lifting, bending, and carrying. - An interest in op-shopping, with an appreciation for vintage, retro, and pre-loved fashion. - A strong enthusiasm for sustainability within the retail sector, focusing on reusing, upcycling, and promoting a circular economy. - Reliability, trustworthiness, and integrity in all aspects of work. - Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team of volunteers and staff. - Experience in the retail sector or in storage and warehouse environments. - Strong organizational skills, self-motivation, and the initiative to drive results efficiently.
