About the Role
We are seeking dedicated Support Workers to join our team in Auckland. In this casual position, you will play a crucial role in supporting families and stabilizing the placement of children with specific needs. Our Support Workers are essential in ensuring the safety and well-being of our Tamariki, especially those with autism and/or intellectual disabilities. This position is both demanding and rewarding, requiring a great deal of care, empathy, and professionalism.
The role will involve working at both Oasis House and the emergency house. We need individuals who are available during weekdays, weekends, and may also be required for overnight shifts.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, you should ideally have the following qualifications and experience:
- A Certificate in Health and Wellbeing is preferred.
- Experience providing physical, emotional, and therapeutic care to vulnerable children, young people, and infants with disabilities.
- A background in caring for children who have experienced trauma.
- Physical fitness to lift and move Tamariki and Rangatahi as needed.
- Strong ability to establish confidence, rapport, and routine with children and their families.
- A genuine commitment to ensuring the well-being of our children.
- Ability to function effectively within a private foster home setting, focusing on the needs of a specific child with high needs.
- Capability to work as part of a professional team.
- A full clean driver’s license and access to your own transport are essential.
- Availability to work on weekends.
- An understanding of the unique relationship between Māori and Tauiwi, along with empathy for our organization’s values and alignment with the Open Home Foundation’s Christian principles.
