About the Role
We are looking for a passionate and capable individual to take on the role of Communications & Projects Lead for a fixed term of 12 months. This position is crucial in leading and supporting our iwi communications and project development.
In this role, you will implement our communications strategy, establish digital infrastructure, create engaging content, and support kaupapa that reflect te ao Māori and the values of Ātiawa ki Whakarongotai Charitable Trust. Your efforts will greatly contribute to nurturing relationships and capturing the essence of our community.
Key Responsibilities
Communications Infrastructure
You will manage our social media platforms and maintain the iwi website and digital content library. Regular communication will be key, as you will create and distribute e-pānui, newsletters, and urgent pānui via email. Additionally, you will develop branding templates and internal communications systems to enhance our outreach efforts.
Content Creation & Storytelling
Your role will involve capturing kaupapa through various media, including photos, videos, and articles. You will promote iwi mahi, events, and achievements while supporting monthly thematic content and whānau-led storytelling.
Relationship Building
Engagement is essential, and you will work closely with the Kaunihera Kaumātua, Marae Trustees, Hora Te Pai, hapū, and iwi entities. By facilitating kōrero and interviews, you will help elevate iwi voices and honor the contributions of kaumātua and marae. Building connections with rangatahi will also be a priority.
Project & Event Support
You will assist with funding applications and reporting, as well as support Trust events, hui, and wānanga. Exploring software solutions to archive and protect iwi knowledge and kōrero will also be part of your responsibilities, along with assisting in the delivery of various projects related to kaupapa such as housing and health.
Succession Planning
Promoting opportunities for rangatahi will be an important aspect of your role, as will supporting the development of a succession plan to enhance iwi capability. Encouraging whānau participation and registration drives will also be key.
Measurement & Evaluation
You will utilize web analytics and social media insights to track engagement and support surveys and feedback loops to assess the impact of our communications.
About You
We are looking for someone with a deep understanding of te ao Māori and kaupapa Māori. Strong relationship-building and communication skills are essential, coupled with a growth mindset and a commitment to succession planning. Your experience in digital communications, content creation, and project coordination will be invaluable, as will your ability to work collaboratively and support kaupapa.
