About the Role
We are seeking experienced Welders to join our team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, potentially across different locations throughout New Zealand. Flexibility in work locations is preferred, as you may be required to assist with projects nationwide.
As a Welder, your responsibilities will include:
- Familiarity with various welding techniques and equipment.
- Working with different metals and utilizing hand tools, power tools, specialist welding tools, and heavy machinery.
- Igniting torches, starting power supplies, and striking arcs to complete electrical circuits.
- Operating safety equipment and adhering to safe work practices.
- Detecting faulty equipment or defective materials and reporting these issues to supervisors.
- Monitoring welding processes to prevent overheating, warping, and distortion of materials.
- Setting up and operating common hand and power tools in the welding trade, including shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
- Analyzing engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, sketches, work orders, and material safety data sheets to plan layout and welding operations.
- Selecting and installing torches, torch tips, filler rods, and flux based on welding chart specifications.
- Adjusting gas flow and pressure to achieve desired flame characteristics.
- Guiding flames or electrodes to manipulate metal through straightening, bending, melting, or building up.
You may also be assigned additional duties as needed.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, you should meet the following criteria:
- A minimum of 1 year of relevant welding experience or a qualification equivalent to NZQA Level 4.
- Strong interpersonal skills, time management abilities, and a solid work ethic.
- A commitment to ongoing learning and skill development within the industry.
- A sound understanding of health and safety procedures.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic are essential.
Benefits
We offer a competitive pay range of $25.00 to $30.00 per hour, with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours of work per week.
Location
This position may require travel to various locations across New Zealand, including but not limited to Auckland, Northland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Hawkes Bay, Taranaki, Gisborne, Whanganui-Manawatu, Wellington, Marlborough, Nelson-Tasman, Canterbury, West Coast, Otago, and Southland.
This role is a permanent, full-time position.
