About the Role
We are seeking motivated and results-driven Welders who are organized and trustworthy. In this role, you may be required to work across various locations throughout New Zealand to assist with our projects, so we prefer candidates who are flexible with their work locations.
As a Welder at Extrastaff Limited, you will be responsible for several key tasks, including:
- Familiarity with various welding techniques and equipment
- Working with different metals, hand tools, power tools, specialist welding tools, and heavy machinery
- Igniting torches or starting power supplies and striking arcs by touching electrodes to the metals being welded to complete electrical circuits
- Operating safety equipment and adhering to safe work habits
- Detecting faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notifying supervisors
- Monitoring the fitting, burning, and welding processes to prevent overheating, warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of materials
- Setting up and operating hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment
- Analyzing engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, sketches, work orders, and material safety data sheets to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations
- Welding separately or in combination using aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, and other alloys
- Selecting and installing torches, torch tips, filler rods, and flux according to welding chart specifications or types and thicknesses of metals
- Connecting and adjusting regulator valves to activate and control gas flow and pressure for desired flames
- Guiding and directing flames or electrodes on workpieces to straighten, bend, melt, or build up metal
- Performing any other duties as assigned

Benefits
This position offers a competitive pay range of $25.00 to $30.00 per hour, with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours of work each week.
Location
You may be required to work in various locations across New Zealand, including Auckland, Northland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Hawkes Bay, Taranaki, Gisborne, Whanganui-Manawatu, Wellington, Marlborough, Nelson-Tasman, Canterbury, West Coast, Otago, and Southland. This role is permanent and full-time.
