About the Role
We are excited to offer a Senior Nurse opportunity within our Perioperative team at Te Toka Tumai Auckland. This full-time position involves a commitment of 40 hours per week, based at Auckland City Hospital's Level 8 Theatres.
In this role, you will lead a highly specialized nursing team, collaborating closely with other Adult and Emergency Theatre Service Charge Nurses. Your focus will be on ensuring efficient theatre utilization and providing a high-quality surgical journey for both adult and pediatric patients.
You will work alongside senior health professionals to coordinate elective and acute workloads across Level 8 operating rooms. Your responsibilities will include overseeing daily theatre sessions for your specialties, organizing a team of nurses and healthcare assistants, and managing clinical resources. Your goal will be to achieve excellent health outcomes in a compassionate and equitable manner while maintaining a safe working and patient environment.

About You
We are looking for an experienced senior Registered Nurse with leadership experience in a tertiary hospital setting, preferably within operating rooms. You should possess excellent communication skills and be a proactive driver of quality improvement initiatives, emphasizing patient safety and care excellence.
To be considered for this role, you should meet the following requirements:
- Advanced clinical practice knowledge with at least 5 years of operating room experience
- Strong decision-making skills and a commitment to providing outstanding care
- Proven expertise in setting standards and managing practices to meet those standards
- Ability to provide coaching and address performance issues effectively
- Strong accountability for resource and budget management
- Current NZ Nursing Council Registration and an annual practicing certificate
- A commitment to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi
Ideally, you will have completed or be working towards a post-graduate qualification.
