Description
About the Company
Welcome to Te Manawa o Hine, where we are dedicated to creating a better future for whānau Māori. Our mission is to address health inequities and improve outcomes for our communities through a commitment to equity and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. As part of Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, we are transforming health delivery in Aotearoa and invite you to join us on this journey.
About the Role
We are seeking a Case-Loading Midwife who will play a crucial role in reducing inequities for Māori and enhancing access to maternity services. This position supports new graduate midwives through a tuakana/teina model, fostering their development while providing continuity of care for whānau Māori in the Te Toka Tumai Auckland region.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of up to four families per month, ensuring they receive dedicated support. You will participate in an on-call roster, which includes four days off per fortnight, allowing for a balanced work-life schedule.
About Our Team
At Te Manawa o Hine, we view ourselves as a whānau. We are a midwifery service that embraces Te Ao Māori, focused on improving outcomes for whānau through equitable care. Aroha is the foundation of our work as we assist families during one of the most significant times in their lives — the arrival of a new baby.
We will provide you with the necessary tools to succeed, including a vehicle, IT equipment, access to clinics, and coverage for certification costs.
About You
To be successful in this role, we are looking for a registered midwife who meets the following criteria:
- Holds a current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) and is willing to work an on-call roster.
- Possesses a genuine desire to work with whānau, focusing on eliminating barriers and biases in maternity service engagement.
- Has midwifery experience and is enthusiastic about supporting new graduates in a tuakana/teina model.
- Is computer literate, particularly with the Regional Clinical Portal and Badgernet (training can be provided if needed).
- Is willing to embrace the kaupapa of Te Manawa o Hine while adhering to organizational policies to guide care plans.
