About the Role
We are looking for an innovative and experienced Nurse Specialist to join our friendly team in a full-time, fixed-term position for 16 months. This role represents an outstanding senior nursing leadership opportunity for those looking to advance their nursing career.
As a Nurse Specialist, you will engage in advanced nursing specialty practice, demonstrating expertise in assessment skills, diagnostic reasoning, and management options. You will possess specialized knowledge of complex conditions, which is central to this role. Key responsibilities will include case management and coordination of care for patients and their whanau, working collaboratively with health professionals across inpatient areas and intersectorally.
About the Service
The Gastroenterology service focuses on the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and long-term follow-up of children and adolescents with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). This position primarily involves outpatient duties, managing clinics and community consultations. You will work closely with Gastroenterologists in providing education and counseling to children and families at the time of diagnosis. Additionally, you will oversee day case infusions for children with IBD, assist in transition services for rangatahi moving to adult services, and participate in diagnostic capsule endoscopy.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following criteria:
- Be an experienced registered nurse with a focus on pediatrics
- Hold registration with the New Zealand Nursing Council and a current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC)
- Have a proficient or expert-level Professional Development Recognition Programme (PDRP) portfolio or equivalent
- Preferably possess a Master's degree or a postgraduate diploma
- Have experience in a leadership role with a strong commitment to quality healthcare
- Demonstrate excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to thrive in a bi-cultural environment
