Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, Nelson Marlborough is seeking two experienced Ophthalmologists to join our dedicated Ophthalmology department. About the Role
We are offering two permanent part-time positions at 0.7-0.8 FTE (56-64 hours per fortnight), including an on-call allowance. In this role, you will deliver quality ophthalmology services to the population within the Nelson Marlborough District. You will participate in our Ophthalmology roster and be part of a dynamic team providing a wide range of general ophthalmology care. This role will be based at Nelson Hospital, but you will cover services district-wide.
As an Ophthalmologist, you will work alongside a multidisciplinary team, including fellow ophthalmologists, specialty nurses, orthoptists, optometrists, and technicians. You will also have the opportunity to supervise and teach junior medical staff, contributing to their professional development.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Medical expertise and experience in improving health outcomes in a provincial district.
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists or an equivalent qualification.
- Eligibility for an Annual Practising Certificate with a vocational scope of Ophthalmology from the Medical Council of New Zealand.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- A commitment to continuing professional development and quality improvement.

The salary for this position is commensurate with the current Senior Medical and Dental Officer collective agreement and will be based on your skills, experience, and vocational registration in New Zealand.
