About the Role We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Orthopaedic Surgeon to join our orthopaedic team at Nelson Hospital. In this role, you will deliver a wide range of services, including trauma and elective procedures, while working alongside a skilled team of surgeons, nurses, and allied health professionals who are committed to achieving excellent outcomes for our diverse patient population. This position offers a part-time commitment of 0.7FTE (56 hours per fortnight) with a 1:6 on-call allowance. As a key member of our orthopaedic services, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered care to the Nelson-Marlborough region. About the Team/Service/Location Nelson Hospital is known for its collaborative and dynamic work environment. About You The ideal candidate will possess: - Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons or an equivalent qualification. - Eligibility for an Annual Practising Certificate with a vocational scope of Orthopaedic Surgery from the Medical Council of New Zealand. - Proven expertise in both trauma and elective orthopaedic procedures. - A subspecialty interest in areas such as upper limb arthroplasty, spine, or paediatrics is an asset. - Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with patients and colleagues. - A commitment to teamwork, patient-centered care, and continuous professional development. - Competency in te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori, or a commitment to starting your journey in these areas. - Experience in projects or initiatives that align with the principles of Te Tiriti and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches in healthcare settings.
