Description
About the Company
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is committed to delivering healthcare services rooted in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Our mission is to provide equitable, sustainable, and whanau-centred care to all New Zealanders. We believe in building a health system that fosters collaboration and partnership, ensuring excellence in every aspect of our services.
About the Role
We are currently seeking a dedicated midwife to join our Maternity team at the Jean Todd Maternity Unit in Timaru Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to provide midwifery care to women in South Canterbury. Our unit handles approximately 500 births each year, encompassing a range of cases from normal and low-risk deliveries to complex and high-needs scenarios.
Recently refurbished, our unit offers a modern, purpose-built environment designed to support mothers, babies, and whanau, as well as the staff working within it. The Day Assessment Unit midwife will engage in a varied role, providing care for women who require additional monitoring and infusions, as well as supporting those who are unable to access a Lead Maternity Carer in the community. Additional responsibilities may include assisting in the ward during busy periods and participating in elective caesarean procedures in the theatre.
Our team is collaborative and supportive, working closely together to ensure that mothers and babies achieve the best possible outcomes, all within a positive work environment.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must be a Registered Midwife with a current New Zealand practising certificate. We are looking for candidates who have core midwifery experience and the legal right to work in New Zealand.
