Our Timaru production facility is the largest pork specialist abattoir and butchery operation in New Zealand. Our skilled team of more than 65 staff members processes approximately 4,000 pigs each week, ensuring the highest standards of quality and care. About the Role We are currently seeking a Yards Stockperson to join our Yards team. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe, humane, and accurate movement of livestock from trucks to stunners, while also documenting relevant numbers and details electronically. To thrive in this position, you should have a strong commitment to animal welfare, along with a keen eye for noting the health of animals as they arrive. Attention to detail and accuracy with paperwork and numbers are essential, as is reliability and punctuality. The physical nature of the role requires you to be in good physical condition, and having a forklift license would be advantageous. Typical workdays begin at 5:00 AM for receiving livestock and at 5:30 AM for other tasks. Shifts generally range from 8 to 10 hours, with a working week scheduled from Monday to Friday on a 4-day rotating roster, including a short Sunday shift starting around midday. Finish times may vary based on production and processing demands.
