About the Role
We are currently seeking full-time Construction Technicians for permanent roles across various regions in New Zealand. The positions will be based on project demand, and we guarantee a minimum of 30 hours of work per week. The pay ranges from a minimum of $26.00 to a maximum of $40.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. We provide all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) and tools to ensure your safety and success on the job.
Key Responsibilities
As a Construction Technician, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks that align with your skills and capabilities. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Complying with all aspects of contracts, projects, or tasks while delivering customer service that meets or exceeds expectations.
- Erecting scaffolding or ladders for assembling structures above ground level.
- Creating structures, forms, or chutes and pouring concrete.
- Covering subfloors with building paper to prevent moisture infiltration and laying hardwood, parquet, or wood-strip-block floors.
- Filling cracks or defects in plaster or plasterboard and sanding patches using appropriate tools.
- Positioning and securing steel bars, rods, cables, or mesh in concrete forms using various tools.
- General laboring, including cleaning construction sites as required.
- Loading and unloading building and construction materials, tools, and equipment, and transporting them around the site.
- Performing any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
- Some experience in the construction industry is preferred but not essential.
- A friendly demeanor with strong time management skills and an excellent work ethic.
- A commitment to learning and developing your skills within the industry.
- Sound knowledge of health and safety procedures.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
- Skills in fabricating and installing custom joinery and cabinetry, general framing, fix-outs, door hanging, and skirting.
- The ability to measure and cut materials with precision.
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient workspace.
- The capability to collaborate with other trades as required.
- A willingness to pass a criminal check and drug test.
Nationwide Opportunity and Travel
While this role is listed for the West Coast, we are recruiting for positions across all regions of New Zealand, depending on project requirements. The regions include:
North Island: Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Manawatu-Whanganui, Wellington.
South Island: Tasman, Nelson, Marlborough, West Coast, Canterbury, Otago, Southland.
