About the Role
We are currently seeking a qualified fitter/turner to join our Maintenance and Engineering Department. This position is primarily based at Hillmorton and Princess Margaret hospitals in Christchurch, but flexibility to work at other hospitals in the area may be required. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of building services, plant equipment, and building management systems.
Experience in a similar role would be beneficial, although a willingness to learn new skills is equally valued as we work together in a forward-thinking team. The salary for this position ranges from $75,499 to $86,623.
You will be responsible for:
- Maintaining and repairing steam, water, condensate, compressed air, medical gas, and other reticulated systems
- Conducting regular inspections of operating systems and services
- Performing welding and machining tasks
- Managing maintenance repairs and operation of boilers and heating plants
- Performing maintenance and repairs on general hospital equipment
- Participating in the on-call roster
Your skills will include:
- A qualified trade certificate is essential
- Experience with boilers (Woodchip, LPG, Electric)
- HVAC experience, including knowledge of fan coil unit (FCU) and air handling unit (AHU) operations
- Familiarity with building management systems (beneficial)
- Welding, machining, and general fitting experience
- Knowledge of reticulated services such as water, steam, condensate, and compressed air
- The ability to work autonomously
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, and Excel
About the Team/Service/Location
The Health NZ Waitaha Canterbury Maintenance and Engineering Department is responsible for the maintenance of all buildings, grounds, services, and non-clinical equipment in Christchurch and its surrounding areas.
