About the Role
We are currently seeking a Medical Registrar or Senior House Officer who is looking for a rewarding career combined with an exceptional lifestyle in Tairawhiti, New Zealand. We have opportunities for Medical Registrars at both non-training and Basic and Advanced Training levels, with positions available to start as soon as possible. About the Team/Service/Location
Our department comprises ten Physicians specializing in General Medicine, each with diverse sub-specialty interests. Additionally, we have an outpatient cardiology team, specialist nurses, and visiting sub-specialists. We are proud to be accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) for both Basic and Advanced Trainees.
Gisborne Hospital is a 110-bed acute care facility that serves a wide geographical area extending along the East Cape of New Zealand. This provides a vast array of clinical experiences. We cater to a population of 54,000 and are well-supported by comprehensive surgical services, as well as a full range of diagnostic facilities on-site, including a new MRI scanner and CT scanner. Our strong connections with the tertiary referral center in Waikato enhance our service delivery.
Located on the eastern coast of New Zealand's North Island, Gisborne is known as the first city in the world to witness the sunrise. About You
We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:
- Suitable for Resident Medical Officers at PGY3 and above.
- Registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
- Must be a New Zealand or Australian citizen or resident, or hold an appropriate visa to live and work in New Zealand.
- Competency or a commitment to learning in te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori.
- Experience in projects or initiatives that reflect Te Tiriti principles and frameworks is advantageous, along with a commitment to applying Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly in healthcare settings.
