About the Role
We are seeking resilient, energetic, and conscientious individuals who have a genuine interest in supporting people with health-related issues or disabilities. As a support worker, you will have the opportunity to build strong, trust-based relationships with the individuals we support, helping them to live fulfilling lives. Your responsibilities may include:
- Assisting with personal care tasks such as showering and bathing
- Supporting household management and meal preparation
- Assisting with exercise programs
- Helping individuals access the community
- Providing bowel, bladder, and catheter care
- Supporting mobility through hoists and manual transfers
- Assisting with medication management
Job Location: Paraparaumu, Kapiti Coast
Employment Type: Permanent
We require availability for three days a week, preferably on Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. This position operates on a rotating roster that includes morning, evening, and weekend shifts. During the recruitment process, we can discuss preferred working hours to accommodate your schedule.
We are looking for candidates who are comfortable covering the following shifts:
- Morning Shift: 7:30 AM – 8:30 AM
- Evening Shift: 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Please note that the duration of shifts may vary based on the specific needs of the individuals we support.
About You
We are looking for calm, confident individuals who can demonstrate resilience and understand the challenges faced by our service users. The role of a support worker comes with various responsibilities that can be both challenging and fulfilling. It is incredibly rewarding to be part of the support system that enables individuals to thrive in their communities.
Candidate Pre-Requisites:
- Prior personal care experience is preferred
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities is advantageous
- Familiarity with complex medical conditions, such as spinal injuries and traumatic brain injuries
- Access to a car and the ability to drive independently (a full Driver's License is preferred)
- Ability to drive a mobility van (training will be provided)
- A Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification is beneficial; we also welcome candidates looking to enter the healthcare sector (comprehensive training can be provided)
- Flexibility to travel within the Wellington area
- Ability to work on a rotating roster
- Legal right to work in New Zealand is essential
Benefits
We offer a competitive pay band of $24.13 - $30.03 per hour, determined based on the Pay Equity Settlement 2017, which assesses hourly pay rates based on healthcare qualifications.
