About the Role
We are currently searching for a Fabricator/Welder to join our team in Christchurch. In this role, you will take on the responsibility of assessing shipping crates for damage and performing fault finding.
This is a fixed-term contract for three months, with the potential for this position to transition into full-time employment. We are looking for someone who can start immediately.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Documenting identification information from shipping crates.
- Recording necessary repairs, which may involve new hardware, hinges, locks, plastics, or the replacement of metal sections. This may require cutting out damaged sections and welding in new parts.
- Keeping track of time and materials used for repairs.
You will use various tools, including hand tools, a grinder, a bandsaw, and a MIG welder.
About You
To be eligible for this position, you should have a basic understanding of mechanical engineering, welding, and light fabrication. We will provide full training to the successful candidate.
In addition, we are looking for someone who demonstrates:
- A high level of workmanship
- Attention to detail
- A reliable work ethic
- Good physical fitness
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
While a current forklift license and prior experience are highly regarded, they are not essential for this role.
