We are currently seeking exceptional General Medical Registrars to join our team starting in January 2025. Located in one of New Zealand's most beautiful and accessible regions, our team is committed to providing healthcare that meets the unique needs of Northlanders.
Whangarei Hospital, the largest hospital in Northland, offers secondary care services and is supported by four regional hospitals. Our diverse patient population and the unselected nature of our admissions allow our Registrars to gain valuable experience managing a wide range of conditions, including rarer diseases such as rheumatic fever, tuberculosis, and meningococcal disease.
About the Role
Our General Medical Registrar role is accredited for a comprehensive training experience, including 24 months of basic training and 12 months of advanced physician training with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP). We offer an active clinical training program that features didactic sessions, interactive teaching, a journal club, and videoconferencing of RACP lectures.
You will receive close supervision in both acute and outpatient settings and work alongside a dynamic team of Medical Registrars and Consultants who have special interests in areas such as cardiology, diabetes, respiratory medicine, nephrology, and oncology. Your experience will include rotations through various specialties, including:
- General Medicine
- Cardiology
- Geriatric and Stroke
- Haematology
- Oncology
- Renal
- Acute Care of the Elderly
