About the Role We are currently looking for a Chemical Pathologist specializing in Biochemistry to join our team at Health New Zealand, Te Tai Tokerau. In this permanent part-time position (0.2 FTE), you will have full oversight of Biochemistry services within Northland. As a Chemical Pathologist, you will be part of a small, close-knit team that is dedicated to providing exceptional patient care. Your extensive experience in the Biochemistry testing environment will enable you to take ownership of various responsibilities within our service. This role includes conducting collegial visits to the Whangarei and district laboratories, which is a requirement set by IANZ. Your responsibilities will range from reporting and procedural work to quality assurance and the development of clinical pathways. We hope you have a solid understanding of the interaction between pathology and public health, as well as familiarity with the regional systems in New Zealand and the integration of public and private laboratory services. About the Location Located in the "winterless north," Whangarei offers a warm climate, excellent educational institutions, affordable housing, and beautiful coastal areas that provide a variety of recreational activities. About You To be considered for this role, you must either hold or be eligible for specialist or locum tenens registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) in a Pathology Vocational scope of practice. Ideally, you will have completed a Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (FRCPA) or an equivalent qualification. If you are currently overseas or not yet registered, we are more than willing to assist you with the application process for MCNZ registration.
