About the Role We are seeking a Postnatal Clinical Midwife Coordinator to join our Maternity team at Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, Southern. This is an exciting opportunity to play a significant role in enhancing the childbearing experience for expectant parents in our region during a period of key change. In this position, you will collaborate closely with the Clinical Midwife Manager (CMM) to: - Establish and promote clinical midwifery professional standards within the postnatal ward. - Ensure excellence in clinical practice and the provision of high-quality midwifery care. - Coordinate daily operations across shifts and manage the area effectively, working collaboratively with the CMM and the wider Maternity team. - Provide leadership and support to Registered Nurses and Midwives, Enrolled Nurses, Maternity/Healthcare Assistants, and Students. Please note that this role requires availability for shift work. About You We are looking for a candidate who not only brings clinical expertise but also possesses strong leadership and interpersonal skills. You should have proven credibility in all aspects of midwifery care and a passion for supporting and developing our Maternity team. The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria: - Be a Registered Midwife with a current annual practicing certificate. - Demonstrate a collaborative team approach with excellent group facilitation skills. - Have the confidence to build successful working relationships within a multidisciplinary team environment. - Show familiarity with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori, or a commitment to learning and growth in these areas. - Hold a relevant post-graduate qualification or be willing to work toward one. Salary Range This role falls under the terms and conditions of the expired MERAS Midwives Collective Agreement (1 February 2024 - 30 April 2025), with a salary range between Step 1 ($115,164 p.a.) and Step 2 ($122,660 p.a. pro-rata) on the Designated Senior Midwifery Salary Scale - Grade 3.
