Description
About the Company
Te Whatu Ora - Waitemata is dedicated to providing exceptional healthcare services to our community. Our New Zealand Female Pelvic Mesh Service has been developed over the years in response to the recommendations from the Restorative Justice report, which addressed the experiences of survivors of surgical mesh. We aim to deliver compassionate and effective care to women who have faced complications from surgical mesh procedures.
About the Role
We are seeking a full-time Urology/Urogynaecology Fellow to join our Northern hub at North Shore Hospital in Auckland. This role is integral to supporting our multi-disciplinary team in providing accessible and evidence-based health investigations and treatments for women experiencing complications related to surgical mesh used for treating Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI) or Pelvic Organ Prolapse (POP).
The Fellowship encompasses various aspects of female and functional urology, including robotic surgery, vaginal surgery, repair of fistulas and urethral diverticula, as well as urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse management. Additionally, there is a strong focus on urodynamics and clinical decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in multi-disciplinary outpatient clinics and scheduled operating sessions. This may require travel between various sites for operating and post-operative care.
- Provide on-call support and commit to unsocial hours as part of the Urology Mesh roster.
- Engage in clinical research and evaluation programs, collaborating with the Clinical Director of Urology and the National Co-Lead.
- Uphold high clinical standards of medical practice and professional conduct.
- Work closely with the National Co-Lead, Clinical Director, Operations Manager, and the team to achieve agreed business and clinical objectives.
North Shore Hospital is known for its friendly and supportive environment, with easy access to a range of outdoor activities.
