About the Role We are seeking an experienced Psychiatrist to become a valued member of our team at Te Whetu Tawera, the Adult Acute Inpatient Mental Health Unit for Auckland District Health Board. This is a permanent, full-time position requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with the expectation of participating in an on-call roster. In this role, you will be instrumental in the recovery journeys of our Tangata Whai ora, utilizing your skills and expertise to enhance health outcomes. Te Whetu Tawera is a well-equipped 58-bed unit, which includes a 12-bed Intensive Care Unit, serving the central Auckland population. You will collaborate with a dedicated team of Psychiatrists, Nurses, and Allied Health professionals to provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for adults facing serious mental health challenges. Our approach emphasizes collaboration with service users, their families, and the eight community mental health teams, all aimed at promoting recovery. Our facility is purpose-built and located at the main Auckland City Hospital site, conveniently near the Auckland University Medical School and the picturesque Auckland City Domain, providing easy access to the vibrant offerings of central Auckland. Requirements To be considered for this position, you must be a medical practitioner registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand, eligible for Vocational Registration in Psychiatry, and hold an Annual Practising Certificate. We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Psychiatrist with a specific interest in adult acute inpatient psychiatry. The role includes participation on the adult mental health Consultant on-call roster, and you will benefit from a supportive and diverse clinical teaching environment.
