About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Clinical Midwife Manager to join our team within the Primary Birthing Unit at Middlemore Hospital. This leadership role is ideal for a dedicated midwife who is committed to delivering high-quality maternity care and ensuring optimal outcomes for women and their whānau.
In this position, you will provide expert clinical leadership and direction, overseeing the effective day-to-day management of community midwifery services. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to support exceptional care delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the community midwifery service at the primary birth unit, ensuring safe and high-quality community-based maternity care.
- Act as a deputy for the Midwife Manager of the birth unit as required.
- Oversee the operational management of the community midwifery team, including staffing allocation and resource planning in partnership with the Midwifery Manager.
- Ensure compliance with New Zealand Midwifery and Ministry of Health standards.
- Foster a culture of continuous quality improvement, including audit and risk management processes.
- Collaborate with health professionals, maternal and child health community organizations, and allied health service providers to promote equitable outcomes.
- Actively engage with Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles in maternity care, ensuring equitable health outcomes for Māori women and their whānau.
- Support the implementation of health and safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
About You
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:
- New Zealand Registered Midwife with a current Annual Practicing Certificate.
- A minimum of five years of recent clinical experience in a secondary or tertiary birthing facility.
- A demonstrated understanding of the New Zealand Maternity Model of Care.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to coordinate and lead a team effectively.
- An innovative and creative approach to problem-solving.
- Excellent communication skills.
