About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team, playing a vital role in the success of our stores. This position is primarily focused on delivering an exceptional experience to both our customers and donors, encouraging repeat visits.
In this dynamic role, you will thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing a high volume of stock while maintaining attention to detail. Daily responsibilities will include greeting and assisting customers and donors on the shop floor, as well as processing and pricing donated items in the stock area. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with your colleagues to achieve shared goals and targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide outstanding customer service to both customers and donors.
- Receive, sort, price, and merchandise donated goods.
- Process sales and handle money accurately, including end-of-day cash reconciliation.
- Maintain a well-presented, stocked, and tidy store environment.
- Ensure compliance with our policies and procedures, including health and safety standards.
- Contribute positively to team culture and perform general duties as needed within the Family Stores.
Person Specification
- Excellent customer service skills, with sound judgment and the ability to de-escalate situations when necessary.
- Resilient, positive, and people-oriented team player, able to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Physically fit and capable of lifting items regularly, as this is a fundamental aspect of the role.
- Proficient in using various retail and communication technologies, including point of sale systems and tablets.
- Self-managing, able to stay focused on tasks and re-prioritize effectively under pressure.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ethical approach to work, demonstrating honesty and respect in building trust within the Family Stores.
- Comfortable working within established procedures while applying sound judgment when initiative is required.
- Must have the legal right to work in New Zealand. Employment offers are contingent upon a satisfactory Ministry of Justice clearance/police check.

We are looking for candidates who are adaptable, energetic, self-motivated, and committed to our mission of caring for people, transforming lives, and reforming society.
Hours of Work
This is a permanent part-time role, requiring 8 hours per week. Candidates should be available to work on Saturdays, as our Family Stores operate on some public holidays. The preferred candidate will work a varied roster from Monday to Saturday.
The starting hourly rate for this position is $28.95.
