About the Role
We are currently seeking physicians to join our team in Whangarei, Northland, to provide respiratory services, including Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS). This role offers full and part-time positions, allowing for flexibility in your work schedule. While your primary focus will be on respiratory medicine, you may also be required to conduct general medicine ward rounds depending on your experience.
The position will involve both off-ward work for elective procedures and on-ward responsibilities for managing inpatients. Our on-call schedule requires some weekend work throughout the year, with a rostered day off following weekends.

We are excited about our new facilities, which include a state-of-the-art laboratory, an endoscopy suite, and a cardiac catheterization suite. Additionally, we have secured funding for a new hospital, which is currently in the planning stage.
About the Team/Service/Location
Whangarei Hospital is the largest healthcare facility in Northland, providing secondary care services alongside three regional hospitals located in Kaitaia, Kawakawa, and Dargaville. Spanning an area of 12,600 square kilometers, Northland has a growing population of over 190,000 residents. Our Department of Medicine delivers both acute and outpatient/non-acute/elective inpatient care to the Northland community.
Our department prides itself on a supportive and positive culture, even in a busy and challenging environment. We prioritize teaching and mentoring our 28 medical registrars and seek candidates who are enthusiastic team players committed to enhancing services to address the needs of our population and deliver equitable healthcare.
In addition to a warm climate, the "winterless north" boasts excellent schools, affordable housing, and beautiful coastal areas that offer a variety of recreational activities. We are conveniently located just a two-hour drive or a 25-minute flight from Auckland, the international hub.
About You
Candidates must possess or be eligible for vocational or locum tenens special purpose registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) in an Internal Medicine scope of practice.
