About the Role
We are seeking a New Zealand Registered Occupational Therapist who is passionate about working in an acute care environment. This is a permanent, full-time position located at Auckland City Hospital, focusing on General Medicine and Surgical wards.
As part of our acute hospital Occupational Therapy team, you will play a key role in delivering assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation services to patients across various clinical specialties. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with patients and the multidisciplinary team to provide specialist occupational therapy assessments and interventions.
We offer meaningful support and orientation to your practice context, with ample opportunities for critical reflection, peer review, and professional supervision. You will work alongside a diverse range of Allied Health colleagues, utilizing an interdisciplinary approach to deliver high-quality services. Continuous improvement and development are key to our practice, and we provide on-the-job training as well as a well-established in-service training program.
About the Team/Service/Location
Our Occupational Therapy team at Auckland Hospital is supportive and collaborative. You will receive comprehensive onboarding and orientation to the acute hospital environment, with guidance from our Occupational Therapy Clinical Educator, Practice Supervisor, and senior clinicians.

About You
We are looking for candidates who possess the following skills and attributes:
- Eligibility for New Zealand registration as an Occupational Therapist
- Experience in Occupational Therapy is welcome, including applications from both seasoned clinicians and new graduates
- Proven experience in acute care is highly desirable
- Strong clinical reasoning skills and a commitment to evidence-informed practice
- Ability to collaborate effectively with various professional groups in a multidisciplinary setting
- Excellent time management, prioritization, and organizational skills
- Drive, energy, and initiative, along with strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A proactive, flexible approach, with the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team
