Description
About the Company
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is devoted to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders, rooted in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. We are committed to providing exceptional healthcare and fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce that reflects the communities we serve.
About the Role
We are currently seeking a New Zealand Registered Clinical Psychologist with a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC) to join our dedicated team. This full-time position, requiring 40 hours of work per week from Monday to Friday, focuses on providing psychological assessments and therapeutic interventions grounded in evidence-based best practices.
In this role, you will work directly with Tangata Whaiora, particularly older adults, delivering psychological assessments and treatments. You will also have the chance to offer specialized consultation to your colleagues and develop tailored care or management plans as non-pharmacological interventions for Tangata Whaiora facing severe behavioral challenges.
You will collaborate in designing care plans, advocate for the goals of Tangata Whaiora, and promote positive risk-taking. Additionally, you will coordinate with the wider team to create solutions that enable Tangata Whaiora to thrive and build sustainable natural supports outside of specialist mental health and addiction services when possible.
This position includes case management responsibilities, and you will participate in an Urgent Clinician roster. Given the community-based nature of this role, a full and clean driver's license is required.
About the Team/Service/Location
You will be part of the Awhi Matua Community Mental Health Team, which serves the central Auckland population of adults over 65 experiencing acute mental health challenges or behavioral difficulties related to dementia. Our team works with individuals from acute crisis situations through to ongoing care. We are located at the Greenlane Clinical Centre, conveniently situated next to Cornwall Park in Epsom, Central Auckland.
