About the Company At Trade Me, we are dedicated to connecting Kiwis to help them create the lives they desire. Whether it involves significant milestones like finding a home, a job, or a car, or smaller tasks like locating the perfect bedside table or selling unused items, our vision is to be the first place Kiwis turn to for their needs. About the Role We are currently offering a 12-month fixed-term opportunity for a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer in our Platforms team, with the possibility of extension. In this role, you will play a crucial part in developing new products and enhancing existing ones to serve our millions of customers. This position allows you to work across the entire technology stack, take ownership of technical outcomes, and drive innovation in a platform integral to daily life for many New Zealanders. As a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer, you can expect to: - Mentor and coach junior team members. - Identify and address challenges within our processes and practices. - Seek opportunities to implement new technologies to solve current business problems. - Design, estimate, and plan the work required by the squad. - Write code and unit tests to achieve your squad's objectives. - Take technical ownership and accountability for projects within your squad. - Conduct peer reviews of code authored by fellow developers. - Build, test, release, and monitor the code you deploy to production. - Document your work to ensure maintainability and facilitate future enhancements. - Engage in discussions and initiatives aimed at improving the Trade Me codebase and technical design. Requirements To be successful in this role, you will bring: - Senior-level experience in full stack development, with strong proficiency in C# (.NET) and front-end technologies such as CSS, JavaScript, and/or Angular. - A deep understanding of relational databases and SQL (preferably Microsoft SQL Server), alongside excellent knowledge of object-oriented design patterns and SOLID principles. - A proven track record of taking technical ownership of significant projects. - A natural talent for mentorship and a genuine desire to support your teammates' growth and success. - An organized, self-directed approach paired with a proactive mindset to address challenges in a fast-paced environment. - A keen attention to detail and a commitment to producing elegant, testable code that endures over time. - Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, enabling you to be a trusted advisor to your squad and stakeholders. Benefits Working at Trade Me comes with various benefits, including: - Flexibility: We understand that flexibility means different things to different people. We support you in finding what works best for you, including options for a home office setup and a utilities allowance. We value team connection and come together in person on Mondays and at least one additional day each week. - Wellness: We believe in supporting your physical and mental well-being, offering numerous resources to assist you on your journey. - Leave: We provide leave when you need it, including five days of wellness leave each year and ten days of sick leave from day one. - Social: We enjoy coming together to celebrate our successes. Join us in the office on payday for company-paid lunches, and participate in regular Friday drinks and nibbles, annual company awards, and more. - Learning: From on-the-job experience to formal training and mentoring, we are committed to your growth from day one. We understand that some candidates may hesitate to apply if they feel they do not meet every requirement. If you are excited about this opportunity, we encourage you to send us your resume along with a brief cover note explaining your interest. Trade Me is an INZ accredited employer. We truly value diversity and promote a flexible workplace where individuals are empowered to reach their full potential.
