About the Role
We are seeking a Clinical Resource Nurse to join our dedicated team at Manukau Health Park. This is a permanent part-time position (0.6 FTE) that requires a senior nurse with a passion for clinical leadership, staff support, and improving surgical outcomes. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring quality, patient-focused care during after-hours shifts.
The Clinical Resource Nurse is a key leadership position responsible for coordinating and providing clinical oversight of surgical services after hours. You will support nursing teams, manage patient flow, respond to emergencies, and drive quality improvement initiatives to ensure the delivery of safe and effective care. Your clinical expertise, critical thinking skills, and commitment to excellence will empower staff through complex decision-making and challenging situations. As a role model, educator, and advocate, you will help ensure our nursing teams are well-equipped, and that patients receive timely, culturally safe care.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate clinical care delivery after hours.
- Provide expert support during emergencies, patient deterioration, and interfacility transfers.
- Oversee patient flow and bed management in collaboration with after-hours management and clinical teams.
- Support and guide new graduates and facilitate new staff orientation.
- Ensure compliance with clinical guidelines, policies, and health equity principles.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and professional development.
- Act as a liaison between multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
- Promote the values and strategies of Te Whatu Ora, with a strong commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

About You
To be considered for this role, you must be a New Zealand Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practicing Certificate. You should have a minimum of 3-5 years of surgical nursing experience in New Zealand (post-registration) and experience in either Emergency Care or Intensive Care environments. A current PDRP demonstrating senior nurse attributes and a relevant postgraduate qualification are also required.
