    About the Company At Tauranga City Council, we are dedicated to delivering outstanding community outcomes through our City Operations Team. This newly established division is responsible for maintaining Tauranga’s green spaces and managing a portfolio of Council-owned buildings and assets. Our team currently consists of 115 community-focused individuals and is set to grow to over 160 members as we expand our services to better serve the city. About the Role We are in the process of building our own traffic management team and are seeking a skilled and experienced Traffic Operations Supervisor to help us realize this vision. In this role, you will oversee a team of 10 direct reports, including STMS and TMO operators, while planning, scheduling, and coordinating all daily traffic management operations. This position is not limited to conventional traffic management. Your team will also support our Horticulture department with gardening and general greenspace maintenance tasks when not managing traffic flow and ensuring safety. As a Traffic Operations Supervisor, you will have the opportunity to share your expertise, coach your team, and cultivate a culture of safety and excellence. We are looking for a resourceful, innovative, and detail-oriented individual who has a fresh vision for approaching traffic management in an efficient and effective manner. You should be passionate about delivering exceptional service, improving productivity, and enhancing the community's experience with every project. This role reports to the Team Leader – Streetscapes. Requirements To succeed within the City Operations Team, you will need: - Proven success in leading an operational traffic management team. - Significant experience in people management, including confidence in conducting performance discussions. - Natural problem-solving abilities and strong planning capabilities. - Relevant qualifications such as Level A, B, C STMS (P) and TMP Planner’s warrant, along with a working knowledge of CoPTTM and NZGTTM. - A strong track record in Health and Safety. - A full, clean Class 2 NZ driver’s license. - Excellent communication and planning skills. - Strong computer proficiency.
