We are currently seeking Support Workers to join our team and assist a vibrant young woman in her home environment.
About the Role
In this role, you will be part of a small, caring team that is committed to delivering high-quality, person-centered support. You will assist a 21-year-old woman who is wheelchair-dependent and lives with a brain injury. Your work will involve:
- Providing personal care and hygiene support
- Assisting with McKey (PEG) feeding and medication management
- Facilitating communication and social engagement
- Encouraging participation in enjoyable activities and social outings
- Supporting and respecting cultural values and practices
Hours for this position are Monday to Friday, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with the potential to expand to include morning shifts as needed. The role is based in Kelston, in a friendly family home environment that welcomes dog lovers.
Requirements
We are looking for candidates who:
- Speak fluent English and communicate effectively
- Are physically fit and comfortable assisting with mobility
- Preferably have knowledge of Te Reo Māori or a genuine willingness to learn
- Have experience with PEG feeding (training can be provided)
- Bring a warm, engaging, and patient approach to care
- Are comfortable around dogs
