About the Role
We are currently seeking a Kaumatua to join our team in the Tawhirimatea inpatient unit. In this role, you will provide significant guidance, advice, direction, and support at both clinical and cultural levels. Your responsibilities will reflect Te Ao Maori, ensuring that our services are aligned with Maori cultural practices. This part-time position is based in the Tawhirimatea inpatient unit.
About the Team/Service/Location
Te Korowai Whariki is a part of the Mental Health Addictions and Intellectual Disability Service (MHAIDS). Our services extend across the Central Region, from Tairawhiti on the East Coast to Whanganui, and south to Wellington and Wairarapa. We provide comprehensive services, including Central Region Forensic Inpatient and community services, Youth Forensic services, and Regional Rehabilitation and Extended Care Inpatient Services.
About You
We are looking for a highly motivated Maori cultural leader who possesses the following qualities:
- A strong understanding of Tikanga and the ability to maintain the Kawa and Kaupapa of our service.
- Proficiency in Te Reo Maori.
- The capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
