About the Role
We are currently seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Consultant Psychiatrist who has a special interest in older adult mental health. This position can be either full-time or part-time and is based at the Greenlane Clinical Centre in Auckland. The role requires availability Monday through Friday, with additional on-call responsibilities during after-hours.
In this role, you will join a supportive and well-established multidisciplinary team that includes psychiatrists, nurses, allied health professionals, and administrative staff. The team also comprises a full-time registrar, house officer, and students undergoing clinical placements. For further details, please refer to the position description.
About the Team/Service/Location
Awhi Matua is a community-based service located at the Greenlane site. We provide specialized assessment and treatment for adults aged 65 years and older who are experiencing mental illness and/or cognitive changes. Our multidisciplinary team collaborates to optimize the function and wellness of older adults, aiming to support them in living independently and meaningfully.
We offer a range of assessment and recovery-focused treatment options for older adults facing serious mental health issues and psychiatric complications related to neurodegenerative disorders. Our therapeutic interventions are of high quality and emphasize a strong multidisciplinary approach.
About You
The ideal candidate will possess excellent assessment and management skills and maintain a recovery-focused approach. You should be capable of working collaboratively with service users and their families or whanau.
To succeed in this role, you will also need to meet the following requirements:
- Vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand, along with a current Practicing Certificate, or eligibility for registration. If you are an overseas specialist, please be prepared to provide source verification of your qualifications for the registration application. - A full and clean driver’s license, as this is a community-based role.
- A commitment to achieving equitable outcomes for Māori.
This position also involves participation in the Liaison Psychiatry and Awhi Matua Consultant Psychiatrist on-call roster.
