About the Role
We are excited to announce openings for Haematology Registrars for the 2026 Training Year in the Auckland region. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain extensive clinical experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings, focusing on cancer and non-malignant diseases. As a Haematology Registrar, you will have the chance to apply your general medical skills while working with cutting-edge molecular science and engaging closely with patients.
Our Medicine Registrar runs are typically six months in duration, after which you may rotate into a different run. Further information about our run descriptions for the 2025 training year can be found on the Auckland Doctors website. For those interested in advanced training in New Zealand, more details are available on the RACP website.
About the Team/Service/Location
Auckland is consistently ranked among the most liveable cities in the world, renowned for its stunning landscapes, diverse culture, and vibrant entertainment scene. In the Auckland region, you will have the privilege of working alongside passionate and knowledgeable senior clinicians who will provide world-class supervision and mentorship.

About You
To be eligible for the Advanced Training in Haematology, candidates must have passed the FRACP written exam or be registered to sit for the clinical exam in 2025. Positions will only be extended to those who have successfully passed the clinical exam and completed basic training. If you are scheduled to take the exam later this year and do not pass, you will no longer be eligible for the advanced training position but may be considered for a run allocation.
Applicants should have completed at least six months of clinical haematology before applying. We also offer six-month allocations for those interested in gaining haematology experience as part of their general medicine or specialty training. Candidates must be at least Basic Trainee Registrars with the RACP and eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand, for which we provide support and assistance.
Additional Documentation for Haematology
Regardless of your current employment status as a Resident Medical Officer (RMO) within the Auckland region (Auckland district, Counties Manukau district, or Waitemata district), you will need to submit the following documentation as part of your application:
- A brief covering letter detailing your medical training to date and your future plans for advanced training.
- A CV completed until December 2024 using the template provided on our website.
- Three required referees, with at least one reference coming from a Physician working in General Medicine or a subspecialty of Internal Medicine.
If you are already an Advanced Trainee in Haematology and currently employed in the Auckland region, you do not need to apply through this job listing, as you will have independent meetings with your specialty. However, if you are a current RMO employee in the Auckland region seeking a six-month allocation or applying for advanced training in Haematology, a formal application is necessary.
