About the Role
We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Ward Administrator to join our Medical Ward team at Hutt Hospital. In this permanent, part-time position, you will provide essential administrative and clerical support to ensure the ward operates efficiently and professionally. This role involves significant customer interaction and teamwork, making exceptional customer service a top priority.
As the first point of contact for patients, whanau, and visitors, you will contribute to creating a positive and welcoming environment. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Delivering high-quality reception and clerical services
- Managing patient medical records with accuracy and confidentiality
- Utilizing hospital computer systems confidently to support clinical and administrative processes
- Booking transport, managing appointments, and assisting nursing staff with equipment orders
This part-time role requires a commitment of 32 hours per week, with rostered and rotating shifts. Possible shift times include 0730-1600 and 1200-2030 during weekdays, and 0830-1700 on weekends. You will be scheduled to work one weekend every four weeks. The salary range for this position is $66,611 - $75,628 pro-rata.

The General Medical Ward is a bustling 54-bed ward located at Hutt Hospital in Lower Hutt. Our diverse workforce is committed to providing excellent care to our patients. You will be joining a passionate team that collaborates closely to ensure that all patients and whanau receive the highest standard of care.
About You
To thrive in this role, we are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:
- A passion for delivering exceptional customer service and fostering a welcoming environment
- Proven administrative experience with a strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
- Strong organizational skills and the capability to manage tasks effectively under pressure
- A commitment to confidentiality and privacy standards
- Proficiency in computer systems; familiarity with hospital systems is an advantage
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the ward's needs
- Previous experience in the health sector is preferred
