About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Psychologist to join our Community Mental Health Team at Taranaki Base Hospital in a permanent, full-time position (80 hours per fortnight). In this role, you will be an integral member of a multidisciplinary team, engaging in various responsibilities such as psychological assessments, psychotherapy, and leading therapeutic groups. Additionally, you will offer supervision and teaching to team members and have the chance to provide inpatient mental health services and crisis intervention.
About the Team/Service/Location
Our team consists of Psychologists, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Support Workers, Nurses, and Psychiatrists. Most of your work will take place within the hospital setting, with occasional opportunities for community engagement. We pride ourselves on creating a welcoming and supportive environment, ensuring you have the resources to succeed in your role. About You
We are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications and skills:
- A current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) in New Zealand
- Experience and a passion for working with individuals experiencing significant mental health distress
- Strong assessment skills, particularly in neuropsychological assessments and their interpretation
- Proficiency in various therapeutic modalities and exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- The ability to work autonomously while also collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team, including providing clinical leadership and supervision
- An understanding of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and a commitment to culturally safe and appropriate practice
- Enthusiasm for embracing new ideas and innovative approaches to service delivery
