About the Role We are seeking a Clinical Psychologist with a strong foundation in best-practice psychological theories and treatment approaches to support adults facing mental health challenges within a forensic context. You will join a supportive, experienced multidisciplinary team that delivers specialized care to forensic clients in various settings, including hospitals, prisons, and the community. As part of a regional service that spans Wellington, Manawatu, Whanganui, Hawkes Bay, Wairarapa, and Tairawhiti, you will have opportunities to engage in broader service and local team development activities aligned with your skills and experience. While not mandatory, prior experience in forensic, correctional, or high-risk/high-needs environments would be advantageous. Duties will include: - Conducting psychological assessments and interventions with clients in forensic settings - Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team - Preparing psychological reports for the court - Providing consult-liaison to other services About the Team/Service/Location Te Korowai Whariki (TKW) operates a variety of regional and national services, with staff positioned across the Central Region, from Gisborne to Whanganui and Wellington. Our services encompass both inpatient and community-based care. TKW comprises two main branches: Central Regional Services and Intellectual Disability (ID) Services. The Central Regional Forensic Mental Health Service functions at the intersection of Mental Health Services and the Justice System, operating within prisons, courts, communities, and inpatient facilities. We provide assessment and rehabilitation services to defendants charged with criminal offenses and offenders experiencing psychiatric illnesses. About You The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of mental health and addiction, as well as the effects of these issues on clients, their whanau, and the broader community. The role also includes consultancy to other services, supporting the functioning and development of teams and the organization overall. We offer robust supervision both individually and as part of multidisciplinary team review meetings. Candidates must hold a minimum of a Master's Degree in Psychology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology or an equivalent qualification. Registration with the NZ Psychologist Board and a current annual practicing certificate are required.
