About the Role
We are seeking a psychologist to join our Community Mental Health Team at Taranaki Base Hospital. This permanent, full-time position requires a commitment of 80 hours per fortnight. As a psychologist, you will be an integral part of our multidisciplinary team, contributing to various aspects of mental health care. Your responsibilities will include conducting psychological assessments, providing psychotherapy, facilitating therapeutic groups, and offering supervision and teaching to team members. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to engage in inpatient mental health services and crisis intervention.
About the Team/Service/Location
Our team comprises Psychologists, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Support Workers, Nurses, and Psychiatrists. Most of the work will take place within the hospital setting, with occasional opportunities for community engagement. About You
We are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications and skills:
- A current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) in New Zealand
- Experience and passion for working with individuals experiencing significant mental health distress
- Strong assessment skills, particularly in neuropsychological assessments and interpretation
- Proficiency in various therapeutic modalities and excellent therapeutic skills
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities, with a focus on building relationships
- The flexibility to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, providing clinical leadership and supervision when needed
- An understanding of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and a commitment to culturally safe and appropriate practice
- A willingness to embrace new ideas and innovative approaches to service delivery
