About the Role
We are currently seeking a Collection and Delivery Coordinator, a key position that directly impacts the success of our stores. In this role, you will be responsible for the efficient, safe, and timely collection and delivery of donated goods, all while ensuring a positive experience for our customers and donors that encourages repeat interactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional customer service to both customers and donors.
- Complete collections and deliveries according to a daily schedule.
- Schedule and plan efficient routes to optimize store operations.
- Safely load, unload, and stack goods.
- Conduct daily vehicle checks and maintain the vehicle to a high standard.
- Adhere to policies and standard operating procedures, especially regarding health and safety.
- Contribute to the overall duties of the Family Stores as needed.
Person Specification
We are looking for a resilient, positive, and people-oriented team player who can naturally connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds. The ideal candidate will possess:
- A full, current, clean New Zealand driver's license, Class 1 (motor vehicle), and confidence in operating and maintaining a small truck (both manual and automatic).
- A collaborative approach and the ability to work closely with colleagues to achieve desired outcomes.
- Physical fitness to handle regular heavy lifting, which is an essential aspect of the role.
- Self-management skills to stay on task and re-prioritize as necessary under pressure.
- Quick thinking and problem-solving abilities, along with spatial awareness.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in using various retail and communications technologies.
- An ethical approach that fosters a respectful, honest, and transparent work environment, upholding the values of The Salvation Army.
- The ability to operate within set procedures while applying sound judgment when initiative is required.
- The legal right to work in New Zealand. Employment offers are contingent upon the successful completion of a Ministry of Justice clearance/police check.

This is a Permanent full-time role, consisting of 37.5 hours per week from Monday to Friday. Please note that our Family Stores operate on public holidays. The starting salary for this position is $30.69 per hour, based out of the Tawa Family Store.
