About the Company We are a leading agricultural organization situated in the Hastings area, specializing in dairy farming. Our farm operates a 1750-cow herd, and we pride ourselves on sustainable farming practices and high-quality milk production. We are currently seeking a dedicated Herd Manager to join our team. About the Role As a Herd Manager, you will play a critical role in our daily operations, overseeing a variety of responsibilities that ensure the efficiency and productivity of the farm. Your tasks will include milking and monitoring milk quality, training junior staff, managing stock handling and feeding, and maintaining the farm's infrastructure. You will also be involved in fencing, weed control, calving, calf rearing, and shed maintenance. Additional responsibilities may include operating tractors for feeding, baling, mowing, and silage monitoring, as well as keeping accurate records of animal health. We expect a weekly commitment of 50 to 55 hours. Given the nature of farm work, your schedule may vary, and you will be compensated for any overtime worked beyond the maximum hours at the agreed rate. The work roster will typically consist of seven consecutive days on duty followed by two days off. Requirements To be considered for this position, candidates must have a minimum of two years of dairy farming experience and provide relevant references. Benefits The hourly wage for this position ranges from $28.00 to $32.00, depending on experience. As part of your employment, we offer accommodation in a three-bedroom solo house or a possible shared four-bedroom house. Please note that no pets or smoking are allowed in the accommodation, and rent will be deducted from your wages.
